01 — The name

A verge is where a drawing becomes a room.

The Design Verge is an architecture and interiors studio in Bangladesh. Maria Islam Priyanto founded it in 2025 and leads it as chief executive.

The name is deliberate. A verge is not a place you fall from. It is the line where a plan is about to become a room. The studio works on that line: houses, interiors, and small commercial buildings, drawn for the sun, the rain, and the plot in front of us.

Founder and chief executive

Maria leads The Design Verge and established the studio in 2025. She also teaches, as a lecturer at Bangladesh University of Business and Technology, and she is a teaching and research assistant at Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.

The studio is a practice, not a classroom. The habit is the same: look carefully, then draw.
